Sierra South maintains a rental/demo kayak fleet of more than 75 boats for our customers. These include nearly all the newest models. For those interested in purchasing a kayak, some rental credits can be applied toward the purchase of a new boat. Call the store for details. We also carry demo models of our top-selling paddles. We rent wetsuits, lifejackets, booties, and other paddling gear. You must have taken a class from us, have taken a similar course, or be proficient in the proper handling and use of the boat to qualify for a kayak rental. You will be required to sign a release of liability and assumption of risk agreement prior to your rental. Some rentals may book out on busy weekends. Please call ahead for availability. All rentals must be returned by 5:00pm or additional charges will apply.
Wetsuit packages are available to rent when needed and are almost always recommended through mid-June on all CLASS IV-V whitewater. Packages include a neoprene Farmer John style wetsuit, nylon paddling jacket (to be worn over the suit), and neoprene booties. It’s a good idea to wear shorts, or a bathing suit underneath your wetsuit. Additional fleece clothing such as Capilene underwear or Synchilla sweaters can be added for extra warmth when needed. All these items are available for purchase at our retail store or online store. We suggest you avoid wearing cotton since it absorbs water and does not dry quickly. Our reservation staff are available to answer any questions you might have about your gear.
