We designed this course to help you develop the basic mechanical and mental skills to execute a bomb-proof roll every time! If you've never rolled before or can't execute your lake roll with more than a 50% success ratio, you should take this class. This is also the course to take if you are working on your off-side roll. We will start with a great instructional video describing and showing the mechanics of rolling in slow motion. Afterwards, we will head to Isabella Lake for hands-on practice. Maximum group size is no more than 4 per instructor. Included are paddling equipment and transportation once you get to Sierra South. Lunch is not provided. Classes start at 9am. See Schedule for dates.

If you have a decent lake roll but seem to come apart on the river, this class is for you. We will use the same format as the Lake Roll Class but move immediately to the river after the instructional video. There, your watchful instructor will critique your technique. Many times, with a minor adjustment, you will be able to improve your roll and understand what to do to make it bomb-proof! Our maximum group size is 4 per instructor. Included are paddling equipment and transportation once you get to Sierra South. Classes start at 9am. See Schedule for dates.

How does more river time under the watchful eye of an instructor sound? How reliable is your roll? We've designed a course combining a rolling session in the morning with a river run in the afternoon for a great one-day continuing ed/refresher course. The morning will be dedicated to learning and refining the Eskimo roll in the calm waters of Isabella Lake, or on the river, depending on the class level. In the afternoon, we will do a river run on the Kern while your instructor reviews basic skills and offers new challenges. Paddling gear, river shuttles, and lunch are included. This is not for first-timers. Class starts at 9am. Prerequisite: A 101 or 201 class or equivalent.
